The Elstead Chapel Flush Ceiling Lantern is a compact outdoor ceiling light from Elstead’s Chapel range, designed to sit flush against low-clearance soffits. Its form translates traditional lantern styling into a low-profile lantern suited to porches, covered entryways and sheltered patios.

Design-forward details include a multi-faceted, pyramidal glass housing set within a geometric metal cage. The front face features an intersecting radial starburst of diagonal and horizontal bars that create a jewel-like silhouette while keeping the profile compact.

Construction uses a die-cast aluminium frame that encases textured glass panels with a horizontal ribbed pattern to soften and diffuse the beam. The Chapel is offered in a weatherproof finish and is made in England, backed by a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty for external use.

The enclosed lantern houses a single light source and the ribbed glass reduces direct glare, providing balanced ambient illumination suitable for arrival spaces. IP44 weather protection means the fitting resists splashing water and is intended for covered external locations rather than fully exposed sites.

Installation is straightforward: the fitting is designed for flush mounting so it sits directly against the ceiling surface, making it a good choice where headroom is limited. Check the product technical sheet for compatible lamp types, recommended wattage and any dimming guidance for your installation.

At Lighting Design Online we frame this lantern as a considered choice for exterior ambience combining clear materials, robust construction and weather resistance. If you need project support, we can advise on lamp selection, dimming compatibility and siting so the final result is both reliable and thoughtfully lit.
